Round Table “Legal Regulation of Digital Economy: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”
On February 22, 2019 the International Interactive Round Table “Legal Regulation of Digital Economy: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” was held by the editors of the Journal of Law and Digital Economy held in the Academic Council Hall of Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL).
The Round Table was hosted by the Competition Law Department of Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL) and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Law and Digital Economy jointly with the Moscow Branch of the Association of Lawyers of Russia.
The Round Table was timed to 1 year’s anniversary of the bilingual Russian-English Journal of Law and Digital Economy which has already become widely known both in Russia and abroad.
The event was opened by the welcome speech by Viktor Blazheev, Rector of Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL) to the participants and guests: Viktor Vladimirovich underlined the importance of such research-oriented events.
The Round Table moderators were Vladimir Sinyukov, Vice-Rector for Research, Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL) and Maria Egorova, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law and Digital Economy, Professor at the Department of Competition Law, Deputy Chair of the Executive Committee of Moscow Branch of the Russian Association of Lawyers, Member of the International BRICS Committee for Digital Economy.
A unique moment of the event was marked by the signing a cooperation agreement between the Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL) and the International Alliance of Lawyers and Economists (France).
As part of the event, the agreements were also signed between MSAL’s Rector Viktor Blazheev and Alain Duflot, Co-President of the Internarial Alliance of Lawyers and Economists (France), lecturer at University Jean Moulin Lyon III (Lyon, France).
The main subjects offered for discussion at the round table included:
Modern challenges in the legal regulation of digital technologies in today’s conditions of development of international relations;
Problems of antitrust laws application in conditions of digital economy;
Digital economy and its influence on geopolitical relations;
Legal nature of cryptocurrency and private legal problems of regulation;
The place of cryptocurrency in the system of payment means;
Prospects for adopting the law on digital assets;
Digitalization of state and municipal procurement.
The round table discussion was divided into 4 main parts:
Panel discussion "Modern problems of state regulation of the digital economy: the experience of Russia and foreign states"
Interactive discussion: "Legal regulation of the digital economy in some areas of public relations"
Panel discussion “Modern trends of public administration digitalization; Cryptocurrency and blockchain: problems of legal regulation. Russian and foreign experience of legal regulation in the domain of digital technologies”.
Interactive discussion: “Legal regulation of some types of activity concerning cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies. Development of legal regulation of the digital economy in entrepreneurial activity and international relations”.
Of special interest for the participants were the presentations delivered by our foreign guests:
"Current problems of legal regulation of blockchain in France" by Mr. Alain Duflot, lawyer, international law expert and practitioner, founder of "Duflot & Partners" law office, Co-President of the International Alliance of Lawyers and Economists (France), lecturer at the University Jean Moulin Lyon III (Lyon, France);
“Some aspects of state governance digitalization in tax law and its consequences” by Mr. Dariusz Gibasiewicz, Managing Partner, Gibasiewicz Law Office (Warsaw, Poland), Member of International Alliance of Lawyers and Economists (France);
